The "Remote Control " setting, provided for safety reasons, allows you to command the appliance remotely. If this option is not activated, the appliance will send its status, but will not be able to receive commands via the mobile App. The setting must be set to ON once the product has been registered; it is automatically deactivated every time the appliance is powered on again, each time the "Connectivity" setting is turned off and in some cases the door opens.

The staus of the "Remote Control" setting can be found on the front panel of the appliance, where a dedicated icon and/or a warning light is visable. It is also shown on the mobile App, on appliance pages.

For safety reasons and in compliance with the regulations in force, not all the appliance cooking functions can be activated remotely.In such cases, the mobile App still allows sending of cooking settings, before the user starts the functions locally via the control panel.

  • Verify that the Wi-Fi router is turned on;- Verify that the Wi-Fi router is not too far away from the appliance;
  • Check the status of the Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz band);
  • Check the status of the Internet connection;
  • Press the "Connectivity" button/setting on the display of the appliance to disconnect it and try again later.

The manual mode requires the user to select/type the credentials (network name and password) of his/her Wi-Fi router. The automatic mode, instead, based on WPS protocol (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), ensures that these credentials are transmitted directly from the router to the appliance during the procedure.For the automatic mode to work properly, the router must support the WPS standard, and the mobile device must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network provided by the wireless router.

Your home router must be compliant to at least the 802.11b/g standards, however for better Wi-Fi coverage modern routers (identified as 802.11n or 802.11ac) are recommended.Your router must also provide a Wi-Fi network (identified by a name called "SSID") in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Please note that modern routers may be "dual band", i.e. they provide a Wi-Fi network also in the 5 GHz frequency band, in addition to that in the 2.4 GHz band; in order to be connected, the SmegConnect appliances require a 2.4 GHz band network.While a default setting of home routers, please also make sure that the DHCP server function is activated, in order to allow your SmegConnect appliance to be automatically assigned a private IP address.For instructions on how to access your wireless router configuration settings, refer to your router documentation or to your Internet Service Provider.

The Wi-Fi network name (also named "SSID") of your router used as default at the time of first setup is generally printed on a label attached to the router. You can also retrieve your Wi-Fi network name by connecting to your router setup and configuration web pages via a browser.For instructions on how to access your wireless router configuration settings, refer to your router documentation or to your Internet Service Provider.

During first registration, the SmegConnect App (as a step of the "Add Product" procedure) displays the network names of Wi-Fi networks that your SMEG Appliance can detect around its location. If you do not see the name of your Wi-Fi network (SSID) listed, one of the following problems may be the cause:

  1. Your Wi-Fi router might be configured to not broadcast the SSID. In this case you will have to manually enter your network name or enable SSID broadcast on your router. For instructions on how to access your wireless router configuration settings, refer to your router documentation or to your Internet Service Provider.
  2. Your SmegConnect appliance might be too far from your router and the Wi-Fi signal strength be insufficient. Please see the discussion of this type of issue in the dedicated FAQ.
  3. Your Wi-Fi router may not be on. If your Wi-Fi router is powered on and reasonably close to your SmegConnect appliance, repeat the appliance registration steps again, because search results can vary due to interference caused by other electronic devices such as microwave ovens, alarm systems and cordless phones.

The password of your Wi-Fi network used as default at the time of first setup, is generally printed on a label attached to the router, together with the the Wi-Fi network name (also named "SSID").If you have changed and personalised it since, you may be able to find it by connecting to your home router configuration web pages via a browser. For instructions on how to access your wireless router configuration settings, refer to your router documentation or to your Internet Service Provider.

If you have a smartphone, tablet or PC normally connected to your home Wi-Fi, check the Wi-Fi connection icon on their screen (typically a sequence of vertical or curved bars indicating the network signal quality): if this icon is crossed or missing, this indicates a problem with the Wi-Fi network within the home, even if the external internet connection is working. To troubleshoot problems related to your home Wi-Fi network, refer to your router instructions or to your Internet Service Provider support center for help. If the Wi-Fi connection icon does not indicate a problem, you can check that the internet connection is correctly working by trying to open www.google.com, or any other web site, in the browser. If you do this with your smartphone and perform the same test by disabling the mobile network connection, you can ensure that the Wi-Fi connection path is working. To temporarily disable your smartphone mobile traffic you can disable the "data traffic" option in the phone settings menus. If the web browser test fails, refer to your router instructions or to your Internet Service Provider support center for troubleshooting help.

Stand in front of the SmegConnect appliance where it is installed, and check that you can browse the Internet with your PC from there (if you are using a smartphone or tablet, temporarily disable the mobile network data traffic to ensure Internet connectivity is actually provided via your home WiFi network). If Internet browsing fails, check the Wi-Fi icon status on your device: if it indicates low signal strength (just one bar) or loss of signal (crossed or missing icon), then the position of your appliance may be too far away from your home router and the Wi-Fi signal strength insufficient. In such cases you can install a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi repeater (also named Wi-Fi extender), a device available at consumer electronics stores that allows you to extend the reach of your Wi-Fi router to more distant points within the house.

This phenomenon can occur. In fact, the displayed Wi-Fi levels can have a different scale on the mobile device and on the appliance. When considering frequencies used by Wi-Fi technology even a few centimeters distance can cause signal differences. These levels can even be affected by the differences in construction materials.

Once successfully registered for the first time, your SmegConnect appliance will retain your Wi-Fi network settings and will not need further actions, unless your Wi-Fi settings are changed for some reason, for instance if you are replacing your wireless router or if you are provided a new router from your Internet Service Provider; in such case: a) If you configure the new router with the same Wi-Fi settings (network name and password) as the original router, all of your Wi-Fi devices, including your SmegConnect appliances, should automatically connect to the new Wi-Fi router. b) If your new router is configured with different Wi-Fi settings (network name and password) than the original ones, all of your Wi-Fi network devices, including your SmegConnect appliances, must be re-configured with the new settings. For SmegConnect appliances, please refer to the specific procedure provided in the SmegConnect App ("Settings" section in appliance pages).

a) If the new wireless router has different Wi-Fi settings (network name and password), you must re-configure the SmegConnect appliances following the procedure provided in the mobile App ("Settings"->; "Connectivity and other info" section in appliance pages). The new Wi-Fi router must operate at 2.4 GHz and the encryption mode must be set to WPA2.b) If the new router has the same Wi-Fi settings of the previous one, the SmegConnect appliances should reconnect automatically.

This procedure, available on the mobile App in "Settings " ->;"Connectivity and other info" section of appliance pages, is used to re-configure the Wi-Fi settings of your SmegConnect appliance, in case there are variations of credentials (network name and password) on the existing router or a new one just replaced.As with the registration procedure, the mobile App will guide the user step-by-step to complete the configuration of new Wi-Fi settings on his/her appliance.

The procedure available on the mobile App allows you to delete an appliance registration that has been previously performed. It must be carried out before re-registering the device again (on the same account or on a different one). The connectivity symbols/icons on the appliance display will continue to behave the same way as when the product was registered.The procedure available on the appliance instead restores the factory settings of its connectivity board: the appliance card on the App will continue to be present (until it is deleted as specified above), but the device will not be able to connect and be remotely controlled any more.

Yes, the SmegConnect appliances support the latest generation IPv6 type of addressing. The IPv4/IPv6 addresses acquired with a network connection are shown on the appliance connectivity settings, available on the mobile App or on products with advanced displays.

To ensure that your SmegConnect appliances properly connect to the Internet, make sure that the following protocols/ports are not blocked by your router / firewall configurations:

• ports 80, 8080 (HTTP)

• port 443 (HTTPs / SSL)

• port 8883 (MQTT)

• port 123 (NTP)

• port 53 (DNS)
